One of my favourite bird legends is that of St Kevin , founder of Glendalough .

He was a hermit and lover of animal and birds .

While he was praying, a blackbird landed on his hand, built her nest and laid her egg, in an act of kindness  he didn’t move until the baby bird had flown.

Birds have appealed to our imagination from the beginning of time.
